FREE CPR & Defibrillator Training for Schools
Bring life-saving skills to your school
A cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time, including at school. Knowing what to do in those first few minutes can make a vital difference while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Our work in schools is an important part of our strategy of trying to save lives by training large numbers. By delivering training in schools we will be equipping the next generation of lifesavers with important skills.
Our free CPR and defibrillator training gives pupils, school staff and parents practical, hands-on experience of what to do if someone suffers a cardiac arrest. Our comprehensive training will help meet some of the national curriculum as pupils learn life-saving first aid, which explicitly includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
There’s no previous experience needed and no exam to sit. Just clear, practical training delivered by experienced Heartstart volunteers who are passionate about giving more people the skills and confidence to help save a life.

Why train your school?
Protect your pupils and staff
Give your school community the skills to respond if a pupil, teacher, member of staff or visitor suffers a cardiac arrest.
Build confidence in an emergency
Rather than simply learning the theory, participants practise CPR and using a real defibrillator, helping them feel more prepared to act.
Teach a skill for life
CPR is a practical life skill that students can take with them beyond the classroom — helping their families, friends and wider community too.
Create a culture of helping others
Give young people the knowledge and confidence to understand that they can make a difference when someone needs help.
Support your school's wider community
The skills learned at school don't stay at school. Students and staff can take them home, potentially helping to protect their families and communities too.
